
BDMPA LLC dba Austin Associates, a full-service accounting firm based in Auburn, Maine, recently experienced a data breach potentially exposing personally identifiable information (PII) of hundreds of individuals across the U.S., including at least 78 residents of New Hampshire.
On March 17, 2025, Austin Associates became aware of a cybersecurity threat within its network. After an investigation, the company concluded that an unauthorized threat actor gained access to its systems, and may have copied or viewed highly sensitive data.
The breach compromised a range of PII including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and financial account information. This type of data is highly sensitive, as it can be used for identity theft and financial fraud.
While the specific method of the breach has not been publicly disclosed, the information exposed suggests unauthorized access to internal systems or records containing client data. The breach was officially reported to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office on Dec. 31, 2025. Impacted individuals have been notified by mail.
The company took steps to contain the incident and fortify its cybersecurity efforts. The company is also offering complimentary identity theft protection services through Kroll to impacted individuals.
