Allwyn Dental, a privately held dental clinic in Rockport, Texas, disclosed a data breach connected to a ransomware attack on Soniva Dental Care, the dental practice group it belongs to. The broader Soniva Dental Care breach affected at least 30,000 Texans.

On May 26, 2026, Allwyn Dental was informed by its IT support company that irregularities had been identified related to remote access session hosts. After a closer inspection, it became clear that an attack had occurred on the practice's systems.

The attack targeted the infrastructure used for remote desktop web services at the practice. Through its investigation, Allwyn Dental determined that certain personal information of patients associated with the practice may have been accessed during the incident.

The types of personally identifiable information (PII) potentially exposed included names, addresses, dates of birth, driver's license numbers and government-issued identification numbers such as passports or state ID cards. The breach also potentially exposed protected health information (PHI), including medical information and health insurance information.

The incident did not affect payment information or the dental care the practice provided to its patients. The archive data maintained by the practice was also not affected by the attack.

Allwyn Dental reported the incident to the Texas Attorney General on July 28, 2026, with 4,013 Texas residents identified as affected. The company also posted a notice on its website about the incident.

Allwyn Dental's response to the breach
