If you've purchased certain Pine-Sol® scented products, you may be entitled to compensation due to a class action settlement involving The Clorox Company. This settlement comes after a recall of specific Pine-Sol® products that were found to contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. As a consumer, you have the opportunity to claim a settlement award, which could be a cash payment, depending on whether you have proof of purchase.
Who Benefits?: Individuals who purchased the affected Pine-Sol® products for household use, not for resale, between November 1, 2018, and November 15, 2023.
How much can I get?: Eligible claimants can receive $3.57 per product without proof of purchase, up to two products, or a full refund with proof of purchase.
The settlement includes natural persons in the United States who purchased certain Pine-Sol® scented products for non-commercial use. These products were bought during the specified period and include various scented multi-surface and all-purpose cleaners.
Class exclusions apply to the judge overseeing the case, his family, the Defendant, and entities in which the Defendant has a controlling interest, among others.
Class Members have the opportunity to claim monetary compensation for their purchases of the recalled products.
The settlement covers specific Pine-Sol® scented products, excluding the original Pine scent. These include:
Proof of purchase is not required to claim the standard award of $3.57 per product. However, for a full refund, proof of purchase is necessary.
To claim your award, complete and submit a claim form by the February 7, 2024 deadline. Submit your claim online at www.pssettlement.com/submit-claim. If mailing your claim, it must be postmarked by the deadline.
The total settlement fund is $5,650,000, which will cover cash awards, administrative costs, attorneys' fees, and any service awards to the Class Representatives. The amount each claimant receives may be adjusted based on the total number of approved claims.
A class action settlement provides a practical way to resolve disputes, allowing affected individuals to receive compensation without pursuing individual lawsuits. The upcoming Fairness Hearing will confirm the settlement's adequacy, and claimants should stay informed through the official settlement website for further instructions and updates.
