Way Finders Data Breach Exposes Social Security Numbers

Way Finders, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Springfield, Massachusetts, disclosed a data breach that exposed sensitive personal, financial and medical information.

The breach was reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on July 21, 2026. The total number of individuals affected across the United States was not disclosed in available filings.

Although information concerning the breach remains limited at this time, the notification mailed to affected individuals by Way Finders stated both personal information and tenant records held by the organization were compromised.

The types of personally identifiable information exposed in this incident included Social Security numbers, credit and debit card numbers, driver's license numbers and financial account information.

The breach also involved protected health information in the form of medical records.

Way Finders' response to the breach

Way Finders is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring to affected individuals. The service is provided through Experian's IdentityWorks Adult Credit Plus 3B program, which includes monitoring across all three major credit bureaus.

To enroll, affected individuals who received a notification letter can visit Experian's IdentityWorks enrollment page and enter the unique activation code that was included in their letter. Enrollment is also available by calling 877-890-9332, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST.

The organization encouraged affected individuals to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud and to review account statements and monitor credit reports for suspicious activity.
