TitleEase Data Breach Exposes SSNs and Financial Information

TitleEase LLC, a title insurance and settlement services franchisor based in Warwick, Rhode Island, disclosed a data breach that involved unauthorized access to employee email accounts containing sensitive personal and financial information.

The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Attorney General on Sept. 4, 2026. The company began sending notification letters to affected consumers on Aug. 28, 2026.

TitleEase detected suspicious activity potentially related to an employee email account on June 3, 2026.

An investigation into the incident determined that data within two employee email accounts had been subject to unauthorized access.

A comprehensive review of all data within the two compromised email accounts was then conducted to determine the types of information stored there and to identify the individuals who needed to be notified. The review process was completed on Aug. 10, 2026.

The types of personal information believed to be at risk included names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, driver's license numbers and credit or debit card numbers.

TitleEase's response to the breach

TitleEase is offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary single bureau credit monitoring, single bureau credit report and single bureau credit score services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.

To enroll, affected individuals need to visit the Cyberscout activation page and enter the unique code included in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days of the date of the notification letter.

The company also recommended that affected individuals remain vigilant by regularly reviewing and monitoring all account statements and credit history to guard against unauthorized transactions or activity. TitleEase advised anyone who discovers suspicious or unusual activity on their accounts to contact their financial institution.
