
Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA Inc., a Lexington, Massachusetts-based subsidiary of the global biopharmaceutical company Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, disclosed a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal information.
On Feb. 23, 2026, Takeda became aware that an unauthorized third party had compromised an employee's credentials. The company took action to contain the incident that same day.
On April 24, 2026, Takeda determined that the unauthorized third party could have gained access to certain personal information through this activity. Further analysis on May 5, 2026, identified specific individuals whose personal information was included in the affected files.
The types of information exposed included names, dates of birth, contact information such as home addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account information including direct deposit banking details and medical records.
The breach has so far affected 49 Massachusetts residents and five New Hampshire residents. Takeda began sending notification letters to affected individuals on May 29, 2026.
Takeda is providing complimentary access to Experian IdentityWorks for 24 months. This service includes credit monitoring across all three major credit bureaus, identity restoration support from dedicated specialists and $1 million in identity theft insurance. The membership also includes Experian IdentityWorks ExtendCare, which provides identity restoration support even after the 24-month membership period expires.
