Sagent Pharmaceuticals, a privately owned specialty pharmaceutical company headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois, disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to its computer network in February 2026.

A total number of 1,383 individuals were affected in the United States. The breach was reported to the Maine Attorney General and to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on April 24, 2026.

Sagent Pharmaceuticals discovered that unauthorized access to its network occurred on or around Feb. 11, 2026. The company conducted an investigation that included a comprehensive review of documents and data that may have been accessed or removed from the network.

That investigation concluded on March 23, 2026, approximately six weeks after the unauthorized access first occurred. Based on the document review, the company determined that certain personal information may have been removed from its network during the incident.

The types of personally identifiable information exposed included full names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, state identification numbers and bank account information. The breach also exposed health insurance policy information.

Separately, on March 8, 2026, a threat actor known as Worldleaks posted a claim on the dark web, alleging that it had breached data from Sagent Pharmaceuticals and intended to publish the stolen data within one to two days.

Sagent Pharmaceuticals' response to the breach

Sagent Pharmaceuticals is offering affected individuals a complimentary membership in Equifax Credit Watch Gold. The company noted that enrolling in this program will not affect an individual's credit score.

Key features of the credit monitoring service include email notifications of important changes to an individual's Equifax credit report, as well as daily access to that report. The service also includes WebScan notifications, which alert individuals when their personal information is found on suspected fraudulent internet trading sites.

Affected individuals can enroll by visiting Equifax's activation website and entering the unique activation code provided in their notification letter.

For individuals with questions about the incident, Sagent Pharmaceuticals has established a dedicated toll-free response line at 844-558-4619. The line is staffed by professionals who are familiar with the breach and can advise on steps to protect against misuse of personal information. The response line is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST.
