Safetyfirst Systems Data Breach Exposes Social Security Numbers

Safetyfirst Systems LLC, a New Jersey-based driver and fleet safety company that provides compliance and Motor Vehicle Records services to businesses, disclosed a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal information.

On Jan. 19, 2026, a log review revealed suspicious activity involving a portion of the company's server environment. Safetyfirst Systems took steps to secure its systems and brought in third-party forensic specialists to investigate.

The forensic investigation determined that an unauthorized actor had access to a limited portion of the company's systems between Jan. 16, 2026, and Jan. 19, 2026. During that window, the unauthorized actor accessed or possibly acquired certain files from the company's systems. Safetyfirst Systems then conducted a thorough review of the affected files to identify what information was involved and which individuals were affected.

The types of personal information exposed included names, Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers. The specific types of information affected vary from person to person, according to the company's notice.

The breach was reported to attorney general of California and Nebraska. The company posted a notice on its website.

The breach affected 4,504 residents in Texas, 1,235 in South Carolina, 825 in Massachusetts, 230 in New Hampshire and 364 in Rhode Island.

Safetyfirst Systems' response

Safetyfirst Systems is offering affected individuals free credit monitoring services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.

To enroll in the free monitoring services, affected individuals can visit the Cyberscout enrollment page and enter the unique code provided in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days of the date of the letter.

Individuals with questions can call the company's dedicated assistance line at 1-833-289-5523 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. The assistance line will be available for 90 days from the date of the notification letter. Individuals may also write to Safetyfirst Systems at P.O.
