Resource Center of Dallas Data Breach Affects At Least 9k Individuals: SSNs Exposed

Resource Center of Dallas Inc., a Dallas-based nonprofit widely recognized as one of the largest LGBTQIA+ community centers in the United States, disclosed a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal and medical information. So far, 9,048 Texas residents and 13 Massachusetts residents were impacted.

Between on or about Feb. 4, 2026, and Feb. 12, 2026, unauthorized activity involving its data occurred. Resource Center discovered the incident nearly five months later, on or about July 2, 2026.

Following an investigation into the incident, Resource Center determined that the incident potentially involved the personal information of certain individuals.

The specific types of information exposed varied from person to person but included both personally identifiable information and protected health information such as names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, government-issued identification numbers, state identification card numbers, financial account information, other identification information, medical records, medical information and health insurance information.

Resource Center of Dallas' response to the breach

The organization set up a dedicated and confidential call center for affected individuals at 1-888-201-1486. The response line is available for 90 days from the date of the notification letter, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time, excluding holidays.

The notification letters also included detailed instructions on how to place fraud alerts, request security freezes and obtain free credit reports from the three major credit bureaus. The letters advised individuals to remain vigilant in reviewing their financial account statements and credit reports for fraudulent or irregular activity on a regular basis
