Perma-Chink Systems Data Breach Exposes Social Security Numbers

Perma-Chink Systems Inc., a specialty building materials company and the leading supplier of coatings, stains and sealants for log and timber-frame homes, has disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to its computer network.

On or about May 7, 2026, Perma-Chink Systems identified unauthorized activity on its network, according to the company's notification to consumers. An investigation into the incident found that certain files were potentially copied from the company's internal network during the period of unauthorized access.

The types of personal information found within the compromised files included names and Social Security numbers.

The breach was disclosed to the Maine Attorney General. The total number of individuals affected across the United States has not been reported.

Perma-Chink Systems' response to the breach

The company is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Cyberscout. The monitoring package includes single-bureau credit monitoring, a single-bureau credit report, a single-bureau credit score and proactive fraud assistance.

Perma-Chink Systems has also set up a dedicated assistance line to answer questions from affected individuals. The line is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
