
Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club, a hospitality resort on Cape Cod in Brewster, Massachusetts, disclosed a data breach that exposed the personal and health information of an undisclosed number of individuals.
The breach was reported to the Vermont Attorney General on Aug. 25, 2026. Ocean Edge posted a notice of the data event on its website.
An unauthorized party accessed potentially sensitive files within Ocean Edge's network between between July 22, 2025, and July 31. 2025.
The compromised files could contain the personal information of certain individuals, including guests of the resort. The information potentially affected by the incident varies by individual but may have included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, government ID numbers, financial account information, health insurance information and medical information.
On Aug. 20, 2025, a ransomware group known as Nitrogen posted a claim on a Tor dark web network. The group stated it had obtained data from Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club.
Ocean Edge recommended affected individuals to consider enrolling in identity theft protection services. The company also encouraged affected individuals to remain vigilant about suspicious activity on their accounts and insurance history.
Ocean Edge set up a dedicated phone line staffed by Identity Theft Specialists at 1-855-818-5509. Individuals who received the notification can call this number with questions about the incident or for guidance on protecting their personal information.
