NJ Pain Care Specialists LLC, a pain management medical practice with offices across New Jersey, disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to its computer systems in February 2025.

The breach was reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on May 14, 2026. On the same date, the company posted a notice on its website providing details about the incident and resources for affected individuals.

NJ Pain Care Specialists detected unauthorized activity on certain systems within its network, leading it to launch an investigation with the support of third-party cybersecurity specialists.

The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to a limited number of systems and certain servers between Feb. 25, 2025, and Feb. 28, 2025. The unauthorized actor may have removed certain information stored within those systems, according to the notification.

On March 16, 2026, the ransomware group known as Lynx claimed responsibility for the attack on a dark web.

NJ Pain Care Specialists encouraged individuals to remain vigilant by reviewing account statements and monitoring their free credit reports for suspicious activity. The notification also provided guidance on placing fraud alerts and credit freezes with the three major credit reporting bureaus and advised individuals to report any suspicious activity to their insurance company, healthcare provider or financial institution.
