The February 2024 Data Breach

On February 28, 2024, Nissan North America discovered a significant data breach that compromised sensitive personal information. This incident was the result of a targeted cyberattack identified on November 7, 2023. Nissan, upon discovering the breach, promptly involved law enforcement and cybersecurity experts to contain and mitigate the threat. Despite these efforts, the breach led to unauthorized access to various types of employee data.

  • Driver’s License number
  • Government-issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID card)
  • Financial Information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Date of Birth

Nissan North America's Response

Following the discovery of the data breach, Nissan took immediate steps to enhance their security systems and practices. They engaged cybersecurity professionals to review and strengthen their security measures, ensuring such an incident does not recur. Additionally, Nissan is offering affected individuals complimentary access to Experian’s IdentityWorks services for 24 months to help monitor and protect their identities.
