NAS Recovery Solutions, a peer-centered outpatient behavioral health program based in Lakewood, Colorado, disclosed a data breach that affected approximately 7,000 individuals in the United States. The company provides outpatient substance use disorder treatment, mental health care and peer support services. It specializes in supporting individuals who are transitioning through the justice system or working to return to a stable lifestyle.
NAS Recovery Solutions became aware that certain client information may have been downloaded by workforce members without authorization. The company described this as an internal incident involving people who worked for the organization accessing and downloading client data without permission.
Upon discovering the issue, the company began an investigation, secured relevant records and systems and put measures in place to prevent further unauthorized access.
The types of information involved in the breach included first names, last names, telephone numbers and dates of birth. Because the information was maintained by a substance use disorder treatment provider, the company acknowledged the exposed data may have identified affected individuals as current or former clients of NAS Recovery Solutions.
The company stated that its investigation has not identified unauthorized access to Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account information, health insurance identification numbers, payment card information or substance use disorder treatment records themselves.
The breach was disclosed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on June 22, 2026. NAS Recovery Solutions posted a notice on its website on June 15, 2026.
