The data breach at HMC Fresh Foods occurred on June 5, 2026. The company's notification letter to affected individuals does not describe how the breach occurred or how it was discovered.

The breach was reported to the California Attorney General on July 13, 2026. The total number of individuals affected by the breach has not been publicly disclosed.
Cabot Packing also filed a disclosure with the California Attorney General.
HMC Fresh Foods is offering complimentary identity protection services to help affected individuals monitor their personal information for potential signs of misuse. The deadline to enroll in these complimentary services is Oct. 10, 2026.
The company has also established a dedicated phone line for individuals who have questions or need assistance. Affected individuals can reach the company's team by calling 833-851-9637, available Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
The company encouraged people to review their account statements and credit reports closely and to report any suspicious activity to financial institutions and law enforcement. It also suggested that affected individuals consider placing fraud alerts or security freezes on their credit files.
