Heritage Family Credit Union Data Breach Interrupts Services

Heritage Family Credit Union, a member-owned credit union based in Rutland, Vermont, is among the financial institutions affected by a cybersecurity incident at TruStage, a Madison, Wisconsin-based insurance, investment and technology provider.

TruStage, a vendor partner for Heritage Family Credit Union, detected a cyberattack affecting its environment and proactively shut down its network to contain the threat and protect its systems. The network shutdown temporarily disrupted some insurance services that TruStage provides through its credit union partners across the country.

Heritage Family Credit Union posted a notice on its loan protection page, alerting members about the outage as certain TruStage-provided services are temporarily unavailable.

Because the investigation is still in its early stages, the full impact of the incident on Heritage Family Credit Union members and other credit union customers remains to be determined. TruStage has indicated it will provide updates as more information becomes available.

According to TruStage, these resources include a FAQ page with up-to-date information and a page where consumers can initiate a claim.

Heritage Family Credit Union directed affected members to TruStage's FAQ page for updated information about the incident. The credit union also informed members that those who need to file a claim can do so through the available online claims portal.
