
Global Special Operations Forces Foundation, a Tampa, Florida-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to one of the foundation's email accounts.
The foundation discovered the breach on or about Oct. 14, 2025. An investigation and manual document review followed.
On or about July 9, 2026, nearly nine months after the initial incident, the review determined that files within the affected email account may have been accessed and acquired by the unauthorized individual. The unauthorized access to those files occurred on or about Oct. 14, 2025.
The types of personally identifiable information found in the affected files included full names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, government-issued identification numbers, non-U.S. national identification numbers and dates of birth.
The breach also involved protected health information in the form of medical information.
The foundation began notifying affected individuals on July 15, 2026. A notice about the data security incident has been posted on the organization's website.
Global SOF Foundation established a dedicated toll-free response line for individuals who have questions about the incident or who want to find out whether their information was involved. The number is 1-833-788-9712. The line is available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.
