
Gardiner Family Chiropractic, a chiropractic clinic in Gardiner, Maine, disclosed a data breach that affected approximately 5,000 individuals in the United States. The clinic has served the Greater Gardiner community since 1989 and focuses on holistic, family-oriented care.
The breach was disclosed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Aug. 14, 2026. The clinic also posted a notice about the incident on its website for affected individuals.
Gardiner Family Chiropractic discovered the breach on July 17, 2026.
On the dark web, on July 31, 2026, a ransomware group called Interlock claimed responsibility for the attack. In its posting, the Interlock group claimed to have obtained 40 GB of data belonging to the clinic.
The types of information confirmed to have been exposed in the breach included names, addresses, other contact information, dates of birth, health care information and insurance/MaineCare information. MaineCare is Maine's Medicaid program, which provides health coverage to eligible residents of the state.
