Firstsource Data Breach Exposed Social Security Numbers

Firstsource Health Plans and Healthcare Services LLC, a service provider to health insurance industry clients, disclosed a data breach involving a programming error on one of its platforms.

The company received their information through its role as a third-party service provider to health insurance plans, meaning individuals may have had their data handled by Firstsource through their health benefit plan without knowing it.

Firstsource identified a programming error on one of its platforms. This error may have allowed unauthorized access to or viewing of certain personally identifiable information that should have been protected.

The affected platform supports online uploads of documents, including claims and correspondence, on behalf of health care providers and health plan members. These documents are used for downstream data intake and processing as part of Firstsource's work for its health insurance industry clients. The company received the affected individuals' information through these client engagements, including data related to health care provided through their health benefit plans.

The type of information potentially exposed included Social Security numbers.

The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on July 15, 2026. The total number of people affected nationwide has not been publicly disclosed.

Firstsource Health Plans and Healthcare Services' response to the breach

Firstsource is offering two years of complimentary credit monitoring services to affected individuals. Those who received a notification letter can enroll by visiting the credit monitoring enrollment page and entering the unique code included in their letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days from the date of the letter.
