Ascent Global Logistics Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Personal and Medical Records

Ascent Global Logistics Inc, a private global logistics and transportation company headquartered in Belleville, Michigan, disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to an employee's email account in May 2026.

Between May 8, 2026, and May 9, 2026, an unauthorized third party gained access to one employee's Microsoft account and downloaded certain files. The company identified suspicious activity in the compromised account on May 22, 2026.

The company's investigation determined that the unauthorized activity was the result of a cybersecurity incident. The third party accessed a single user account and downloaded files that were later found to contain personal information belonging to certain individuals.

The types of information exposed included names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, driver's license numbers and credit or debit card numbers and medical records.

The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on Aug. 21, 2026. The total number of individuals affected nationwide was not disclosed in the regulatory filing.

Ascent Global Logistics' response to the breach

Ascent is offering affected individuals a complimentary membership in Experian IdentityWorks Credit 3B.

To enroll, affected individuals can visit Experian's IdentityWorks enrollment page and enter the activation code provided in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed before the deadline listed in the letter, as the activation code will expire after that date.
