Alkegen Data Breach Exposes Personal and Protected Health Information

ASP Unifrax Holdings Inc., doing business as Alkegen, disclosed a data breach that affected consumers in multiple states.

On April 23, 2026, Akira, a ransomware group, posted a claim on the dark web. The group stated that it had obtained 57 gigabytes of data from Alkegen.

The stolen data reportedly included employee personal documents such as passports, driver's licenses, contact details, addresses and medical information. The group also claimed to have obtained client personal information, confidential files, projects, contracts and agreements, detailed financial records and non-disclosure agreements.

The company's notification to consumers confirmed that the types of personal information involved in the breach included names, Social Security numbers and health records.

The total number of individuals affected across the United States was not specified in the state regulatory filings reviewed. So far, 19 Massachusetts residents and 23 Vermont residents were affected by the incident.

Alkegen's response to the breach

Alkegen is offering complimentary access to identity monitoring services through Kroll. The package includes three components: triple bureau credit monitoring, fraud consultation and identity theft restoration.

Affected individuals can enroll by visiting Kroll's enrollment website and entering the unique membership number included in their notification letter.
